finished installing the new lights on the front door and stairs to replace the damaged one, and have discovered that the net-style lights i thought weren't working anymore were still fine. returned them to their original positions outside (on three bushes) and crossed my fingers so that all interconnections would be working. they did light up fine, and then after ten seconds half of the set died out again, and i knew right away which series had a problem. promptly took it out, and replaced it with the last new set available.
