Halloween is next week, so I'm featuring a postcard with bloody ties to Dracula, the most famous vampire there is: Romania (Doesn't the red font say it all?). This multi-view postcard from Postcrossing features Bran Castle or "Dracula's Castle" in the top middle photo. Don't you find it ironic, though, that it's right next to the Rasnov Citadel with the big crucifix?
Why are vampires so popular? There's the wildly popular Twilight sequel "New Moon" shining next month, then tomorrow there's "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant." (Cirque du Soleil gone to Hell?) Can you put that on a resume, though? I just saw another Jane Austen spin-off book which turned Mr. Darcy into a "most disagreeable one"...with fangs! ("Mr. Darcy, Vampyre" by Amanda Grange.)
Vampires embody that mortal longing to live forever. They don't have to worry about wrinkles or life-threatening diseases like mesothelioma. They're also very lusty creatures. They make sucking blood an erotic experience, in stark contrast to zombies who just eat people's brains without even feigning romance. But then again, they don't look sexy.

13 vandalized my wall:
i don't think i want to be a vampire. it makes me look pale. LOL. i am probably the only one who has not read twilight nor watched it.
i am shocked, prinsesamusang! go rent it on dvd, at least! haha. you can't watch the sequel without seeing the first one!
Hehehe! When I saw the movie Twilight, the patrons were mostly mga teens, kilig pa silang tumawa!
They really needed to rename that Bran castle! It reminds me of fiber and metamucil! Happy Halloween!
Hay naku, during my addiction to Twilight, I thought of moving to/working in Romania. Hahaha!
I've read about that place--now your postcard puts a picture in my mind. Happy PFF!
Halloween is fin, but vampires can be a pain in the neck!
The buildings look so0 darn cheerful, not scary at all. I think they should have taken them at dusk or on a rainy day. Very beautiful though.
Great card for this time of year. Happy PFF!
yuck to zombies...sigh to vampires...lol.
I did read Twilight but won't be worrying about getting the sequel. But, I DID read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - and that was what I first thought of when I saw this card. What a great card! I'm sorry to say I covet that card. :)
Scary! I've always kind of avoided the idea of a real Dracula from Romania. My daughters will be first in line at the midnight show for New Moon when it comes out!
I've never been a vampire lover but I did read the Twilight series and The Historian. I love seeing the postcard with all the relevant sights on it. Nice.
