"Forever Young," Forever Yankees!

Okay, so I've been hooked with the ALCS Games between the NY Yankees and the Angels. I'm rooting for the blue pin-striped Yankees, of course!

I was never that interested in major league baseball before. Last year, this blood drive I went to gave out a pair of baseball game tickets to New York's Shea Stadium to every donor. I never got to go. Not only was the scheduled game a bad time for me, I also misplaced the tickets. Plus, I didn't have anyone to go with me.

I was crossing my fingers for the Yankees to take home the trophy in Game 5 last Thursday since they lead the series 3-1...only one win away from ending the series, but divine intervention made the Angels score a 7-6 win against them, forcing a Game 6 in New York today. It was a great Game 5, though. Almost went mad watching it.

Victory will be sweeter with home court advantage...so let's go, Yankees!

I love this official MLB Pepsi commercial featuring the song "Forever Young" sung by The Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am (original version by Bob Dylan). It shows the Yankees Stadium, then and now; and at the end: Babe Ruth (who played for the Yankees) side-by-side with Yankees' Derek Jeter. I hope it's a premonition of them emerging as the 2009 ALCS champions!

But most of all, I love the uplifting message of the song: "May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift. And may you have a strong foundation, when the winds of changes shift. And may your heart always be joyful, and may your song always be sung...May you stay forever young." And then it's Bob Dylan finishing the song.

And here's another version of the commercial which shows more of Bob Dylan singing the song. I love how they patch together vintage scenes with modern ones, showing that some things stay the same in every generation.

I'm never a sports fan at all but when things go the way in favor of a New York team, I always root for them to win. The weather may not be promising this Saturday but I hope the Yankees will eventually emerge victorious.

I have no idea about the rules of the game, never understand them but I went to a baseball game once in Seattle. It's pretty fun watching people cheering and getting excited. It felt like people just left all the stress behind and shout out with all happiness. I felt good just being there.
