Remember that William Blake poem, "The Tyger?" I am reminded of that by this new Chinese New Year stamp designed by Ethel Kessler. Did you know that the Year of the Tiger falls on Valentine's Day this 2010? That's a lot of red! (Red being a lucky color for the Chinese when ushering in the New Year.) Did you also know that narcissus flowers are considered auspicious by the Chinese? This souvenir sheet of 12 stamps will be released exactly a month before Valentine's Day, not in Panama City FL, but in LA's El Pueblo Historical Monument.
And here's a festive Thai New Year greeting card I received from my very artistic friend, Pavinee. She lives and works as a graphic designer in Bangkok. The scene reminds me of provincial Philippines, especially the coconuts and barking dogs.
