Football season officially kicks off tonight on NBC. It’s that American sporting phenomenon that is still as alien to me as the shape of the ball in question. And that shape is everywhere, including this transformed Dr. Pepper soda bottle that I saw at Walmart recently.
Some of the biggest sellers at electronics stores from Labor Day Weekend were HDTVs—the bigger, the flatter, the better--and premium channel subscriptions that offer the NFL Sunday Ticket package. It’s the ultimate viewing experience for die-hard football fans out there with their provider of choice.
I remember being on a flight to the Philippines on Superbowl Sunday. As the plane landed in Taipei for a stopover, the captain announced the local weather conditions and the Superbowl results--the NY Giants had won that time. Since I wasn't traveling first class, that piece of news was the next best thing to a live NFL broadcast.
