north carolina's outer banks

we've sunbathed in south carolina's myrtle beach last april, but we had originally wanted to travel to north carolina to visit a nurse friend who moved there with her family because of lower property costs. i remember hearing about mass migrations from new jersey to north carolina then. they had flown to the philippines then, so myrtle beach was our plan B.

north carolina boasts of its outer banks, "a chain of barrier islands midway on the atlantic seaboard." it's another vantage point for the vast atlantic ocean. at least we have this destination to look forward to next time we head out to the southeast coast.
