pinoy superhero stamps, caparas-style

i think it's super that philpost released these superhero stamps in honor of "komiks king" carlo j. caparas. the stamps, released in november 2008, come in seven-peso denominations. one of the designs even feature mr. caparas' face.

gingmaganda, a blogger pal, snail mail mate and fellow postcrosser sent me this dinagyang festival postcard with two of the 6 stamps in the caparas stamp series:



"gagambino", currently playing on GMA 7 as portrayed by dennis trillo, and "pieta", airing on ABSCBN 2. honestly, i was unaware that "gagambino" was originally a comicbook character by carlo j. caparas. i thought he was a recent clone of spiderman made for philippine television with a giant spider pet and superhero friends that one can classify as belonging to the "league of extraordinary insect-men," for possessing entomologically-enhanced superpowers.

gingmaganda pointed out correctly that philpost should also feature female superheroes in stamps...like darna and dyesebel. other characters available in this series are "joaquin bordado" and "totoy bato."

i love the tinapa (dried fish) sticker...and the message! haha.
