banana mail: believe it or not!

at ripley's believe it or not odditorium in atlantic city, they featured this real banana that was sent in the mail to someone at st. raphael's hospital in connecticut many years ago. it was stamped, so the post office was obligated to deliver it, and they did! believe it...or not!

That's the efficiency of the U.S. Postal Office. I think they just regarded it like a postcard!

What a cool post ,you have the best post I've seen all day !
Wow a real banana, that is just incredible.
Bet they couldn't process that today without everyone getting into a panic over what to do with it. Or perhaps it might just slip
thru the cracks and find its way out to a mail truck for delivery.
It would be fun to have a camera and crew to follow this story from start to finish. Thanks for sharing.
Happy PFF
Have a great weekend.

That is just hilarious! Hmmm... Now I want to try it! The banana doesn't even look a bit bumped or bruised! They truly handled it with care:)

How fun to find this photo! I mailed that banana to my great aunt who was in the hospital for a heart condition. She would eat a banana every day for the potassium. She passed away in 1986. I was very close with her and miss her dearly.
