Snowed-In

Snowed-in Mailbox

It's been blizzard after blizzard for us here in the Northeastern United States. This mailbox was photographed before the recent ice storm we had.

Icy Icicles
Icy daggers hanging from our gutters.

Wintry Woods
I prefer snow over ice/sleet/freezing rain, because the latter is just too darn dangerous. Common injuries during this sort of weather are slips and falls.

Our driveway was virtually a skating rink because of the slippery sheet of ice that formed on it. We had to de-ice it and sprinkle lots of salt.

Here's a wintry scene from a lake in our neighborhood:

Snowy Lake
On Groundhog Day, they said we have 6 more weeks of winter, which means an "earlier" Spring. How many more snowstorms, though?

  1. We got ice and then snow on top of it! Our schools have been out since Wednesday, I think. My husband went to work only 2 days this week!

  2. WE were lucky and missed the big storm this week, but we have still had much more snow than usual.

  3. We had so much ice in the midwest! At least someone cleared a path to the mailbox.

  6. Here in Europe there is no snow now, but we had a lot of snow in December (yes, a white Christmas). I hope the story of Groundhog day is reht for you. (It reminded me of this very, very funny film, called Groundhog Day. If you don't know it, rent it, it's hilarious).

  13. I was in snow weather only once or twice and it's not as thick as this. Snow falling down is beautiful scene but I guess it must have been hard to get through this tough weather.

    Love the lake scene, beautiful.

Btw, I have read the One World One Heart post you recommended (thanks!). Really want to participate. Will try to squeeze it in my tight schedule to make it in time. This Staturday? Hope I can make it and will tell you!

  14. Thankfully we've had no more snow since the first week of January... but I agree with you that soft snow is better then any of the icy stuff as you fall so much harder on it.
