oklahoma city bomber timothy mcveigh was executed yesterday by lethal injection at 8:14am EDT. he did not utter any final words, but issued a written statement which turned out to be the poem Invictus. he signed this poem as his own. i wonder if william ernest henley would mind. but considering his unrepentant demeanor to the end, i think this poem suited him well.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
