today i learned how to make gratin from this japanese cooking show. the show didn't have subtitles but i didn't care. all i understood was "oishi" which meant "delicious." it was interesting how these cooking hosts went to different places and just ate food. and they kept saying "oishi." one of them went to france and her french host took her to her home where she was shown how to make gratin.

back in their japan studio, she showed her companions how to make it. it's basically potatoes sliced into thin chips, arranged neatly onto a baking container, sprinkled with cheese, pepper and bits of garlic, then some milk. then you bake it in the oven at 180 degrees celsius for 40 minutes. i think the japanese characters next to the number 40 stood for "minutes". hehe.
